Movin on up, to the West side

To a deluxe apartment in Morgantown!

Proof that I’ve flipped my tassel came in the mail today. Aw helllll yeah, diploma!

“Kickin ass and takin names / Bleedin blue and gold”

West Virginia’s Will Jones recalls his mountain roots in his catchy ballad “Mountaineer.”

Will-Will-Will\'s a Mountaineer!Will-Will-Will’s a Mountaineer!

With a soulful voice and slow acoustic twang, Jones uses classic imagery – and nods to the greats John Denver and Hank Williams, Jr. – for a sound that’s sure to bring any wayward Mountaineer back west, by God.

Cheating is bad, Mr. Garrison, mmkay?

Horror! Scandal! BESMIRCHMENT!

As you’ve probably heard by now, the good name of West Virginia University has been tarnished by WVU President Michael Garrison. Garrison came under scrutiny after awarding an unearned master’s degree to Heather Bresch, business executive and daughter of West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin.

Bresch, who is also Garrison’s high school classmate and former boss, had left WVU nine years prior and had completed less than half of the degree program at the time of her departure. She is also the COO of Myan, the pharmaceutical company chaired by the university’s “largest benefactor.”

For months, faculty, alumni, and students have clamored for Garrison’s resignation.

Students respond to Garrison

Garrison has officially announced that he will leave his position at WVU by September 1, exactly one year after he became the university’s 22nd president.

Well, well, well.

It appears you have stumbled across the beginning of my blog. Welcome. You’re sure in for something. I’ll be using this to deliver absurd and potentially thought-provoking highlights from my time as a graduate student and teaching assistant at WVU.

Go Mountaineers!
